Hokema "Papson" 5-Note Chordal Kalimba w Amplifier!

The Hokema "Papson" (Papier Sond = "Paper Sound", from its cardboard amplifier) is crystal clear, beautiful, and fun! Play them in sets, or give one each to several people to play together!

The above video shows me playing a composition using a set of five papson , tuned to Dm, C, Bb, A7, and F - ie, the I IV V is made with F, Bb, and C, or as in the beginning of the piece, I do a descending hispanic-sounding riff for Dm, C, Bb, A7.

However, these can literally be tuned to any chord you can imagine (though not to any voicing of any chord). When you order, enter the desired chords in the "Special Instructions" field - or contact us. And if you don't, we'll have to contact you to find out. You can tune these on your own. A 6-pointed star screw driver bit will be helpful, I got mine in a set from Home Depot.

While it is cool to play on a set of these, a far cooler use is to hand a different papson to several different people and get them to work together to create cool music. As long as they know how to take turns music will result. As such these are great tools for music educators and music therapists - children who can't even spell "An arpeggiated melody that follows a chord progression" can create just that.

If you don't want to spend the extra money on the papson with cardboard amplifier, you can always get the 5-Note Chordal Kalimbas by themselves - they just won't be as loud. Or amplify them on any cardboard box:

Hey - I truly believe these little critters could totally transform the way children learn about chord progressions.
